Meet Amanda
I'm Amanda Mitchell, and I'm excited to announce my candidacy for the St. Joseph County Commissioner - District 3. As a dedicated housewife, activist, and homeschooling mom, my journey has been deeply rooted in community and service.
My primary focus is on promoting transparency in government decision-making. We must ensure that our local government is easy to access, openly transparent about its functions, and has clear accountability. Transparency is not just a buzzword; it’s a fundamental requirement for a government that serves its people effectively and ethically.
Another critical issue for me is fiscal responsibility. I advocate for lower taxes and reducing the tax burden on both businesses and residents. Currently, we are giving tax incentives to large corporations to bring them into our community, but these come with long-term tax abatements and TIFs. This seems like a wealth distribution scheme that redirects our tax money to build corporate empires, all while taking funding away from essential services like our local fire departments and schools. We need to reassess these strategies to ensure fair and just use of our resources.
My journey has been enriched by my skills as a passionate and motivated individual, adept at directing resources and standing up for our community. I have a track record of bringing awareness to local issues, reaching out to the community, and bringing hope to those in need. I approach my responsibilities with deep inquisitiveness and problem-solving, always aiming for the best outcomes for our district. On a personal note, I enjoy hanging out with my family and friends. I am motivated by my sense of duty to my neighbors and my God. Beyond my professional and political endeavors, I love the outdoors and discovering new ideas. This passion reflects my personality and commitment to our community's betterment.
Thank you for considering me, Amanda Mitchell, for the St. Joseph County Commission - District 3. Together, we can create a transparent, fiscally responsible, and open community.
